Ideal binary copolymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005568

A binary copolymerization in which the rate of adding one monomer relative to the other is the same whether the growing chain ends in a unit of the first monomer or the second, which makes the product of the two reactivity ratios equal to 1. The ratio of the two units in the copolymer then equals the feed ratio multiplied by the first reactivity ratio. If both reactivity ratios are 1, the copolymer has the feed composition at every feed ratio.
