Monomer reactivity ratios

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007554

Parameters that describe the relative rates at which a growing polymer chain end, terminated by a specific monomer unit, adds another monomer unit of the same type versus a different type. For a binary copolymerization of monomers M1 and M2, there are two ratios, r1 and r2, defined as the ratio of rate constants for homopropagation to cross-propagation. These ratios dictate the composition and sequence distribution of copolymer chains.
