Patterns of reactivity scheme
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008551
A method for predicting the monomer reactivity ratios r12 and r21 of a binary copolymerization from experimental data alone. Each monomer is copolymerized separately with a nonpolar reference monomer and with a polar one, and the resulting reactivity ratios are combined in equations to give the ratios for the pair. Styrene and acrylonitrile serve as the example reference pair.
