Photochemical reaction path
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008823
The detailed sequence of elementary steps that a molecule follows during a photochemical reaction, starting from the absorption of a photon. This path describes the transitions between different electronic states, such as excitation, internal conversion, and intersystem crossing, as well as any subsequent chemical transformations like bond cleavage or isomerization. The path traces the evolution of the system from the initial ground-state reactant, through one or more excited-state intermediates, to the final ground-state products.
