Adiabatic photoreaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000253
A photochemical reaction that occurs entirely on a single potential energy surface, meaning the electronic state of the molecule does not change during the course of the reaction. The excited state formed upon light absorption directly transforms into a product without undergoing intersystem crossing or internal conversion. This type of reaction is relatively rare.
