Norrish Type I photoreaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008080
A photochemical reaction of carbonyl compounds involving the homolytic cleavage of the bond adjacent to the carbonyl group, forming two radical fragments. This process typically occurs from the excited singlet or triplet state of the carbonyl compound. The resulting radicals can then undergo further reactions, such as disproportionation or recombination.
