Adiabatic pulse

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000254

A radiofrequency pulse used in nuclear magnetic resonance where the frequency and amplitude are varied simultaneously during the pulse duration. This controlled sweep through a range of frequencies allows for the uniform excitation or inversion of nuclear spins over a broad spectral bandwidth, even in the presence of an inhomogeneous radiofrequency field. The pulse's performance is insensitive to variations in the radiofrequency field strength, provided the rate of change (sweep rate) is slow compared to the field strength.
