Flip angle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004484

The angle by which the net magnetization vector of nuclear spins is rotated away from the static magnetic field direction by a radiofrequency pulse in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This angle is controlled by the duration and amplitude of the radiofrequency pulse. A 90-degree flip angle maximizes the signal in many NMR experiments.
