Floc

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004485

A loose, porous aggregate of particles held together in a network-like structure, formed during the process of flocculation. These clusters are created when dispersed particles in a liquid are induced to clump together, for example by the addition of a polymer. Flocs are distinct from coagula, which are more densely packed and compact aggregates.
