Coagulation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002150

The process by which dispersed particles in a colloid aggregate to form larger masses, leading to their separation from the dispersion medium. This destabilization of the colloidal system results from the reduction of electrostatic repulsion between particles, allowing attractive forces to dominate. It can be induced by adding electrolytes, changing pH, or heating the system.
