Slow coagulation rate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010940

The rate at which colloidal particles aggregate in a dispersion when the repulsive forces between them are partially overcome, but not completely eliminated. This rate is slower than the diffusion-limited rate observed under conditions of strong attraction. It is often described by the Smoluchowski equation modified by a stability factor.
