Heterocoagulation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005232
The aggregation of colloidal particles of different chemical compositions or surface properties. This process occurs when attractive forces, such as van der Waals interactions, overcome repulsive forces between dissimilar particles in a dispersion. It leads to the formation of mixed aggregates, which can be influenced by factors like pH, ionic strength, and the presence of specific adsorbates.
