Heterochain polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005231

A polymer whose main chain contains atoms of at least two different elements, typically carbon and one or more heteroatoms such as oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, or silicon. Examples include polyesters, polyamides, and polyethers. This contrasts with homochain polymers, which have only one type of atom in their backbone.
