Condensation polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002382
A type of polymerization reaction in which monomers react to form a polymer, with the simultaneous elimination of a small molecule, such as water or methanol, as a byproduct. This process typically involves monomers with at least two functional groups that can react with each other. Polyesters and polyamides are common examples of polymers formed by this mechanism.
