Condensation reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002383
A chemical reaction in which two molecules or functional groups combine to form a larger molecule, with the simultaneous elimination of a small molecule such as water, methanol, or hydrogen chloride. This process typically involves the formation of a new carbon-carbon or carbon-heteroatom bond. Esterification and amide formation are common examples.
