Dypnones
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003517
Unsaturated ketones formally derived from the self-condensation of two molecules of an aryl methyl ketone, such as acetophenone. These compounds possess a conjugated system involving an aryl group, a carbonyl group, and a carbon-carbon double bond. The parent compound, dypnone itself, is 1,3-diphenyl-2-buten-1-one, which is formed from the acid-catalyzed condensation of two acetophenone molecules.
