Enoses
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003942
Unsaturated monosaccharides containing a carbon-carbon double bond, formed by the elimination of a molecule of water from the corresponding saturated monosaccharide. The position of the double bond is indicated by a numerical prefix, and the name is derived from the parent aldose or ketose by changing the 'ose' suffix to 'enose'. For example, 1,2-dideoxy-D-arabino-hex-1-enopyranose is a well-studied glycal, a specific type of enose.
