Olefins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008210
A class of unsaturated hydrocarbons characterized by the presence of at least one carbon-carbon double bond within their molecular structure. These compounds are also known as alkenes and are highly reactive due to the pi bond in the double bond. They serve as fundamental building blocks in the petrochemical industry for synthesizing polymers, alcohols, and other organic chemicals.
