Dyotropic rearrangement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013053
A pericyclic reaction in which two sigma bonds migrate simultaneously and intramolecularly, in one concerted step without a catalyst. In type I the two migrating groups exchange positions on neighboring atoms, whereas in type II each group moves to a new site without any exchange. The trans-diaxial interchange of two bromine atoms on adjacent carbons of a steroid ring is a type I example.
