Anionotropic rearrangement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000617
A rearrangement in which a migrating group moves together with its bonding electrons from one atom to a neighbouring electron-deficient atom, as in the Wagner-Meerwein shifts of carbocations and in the pinacol rearrangement. The group travels like an anion, the opposite of a cationotropic shift, in which the group moves without its electron pair.
