Anisotropic

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000618

Describing a material whose physical properties, such as refractive index, electrical conductivity, or mechanical strength, vary with the direction of measurement. This directional dependence arises from the ordered arrangement of atoms or molecules within the material's structure. Many crystalline solids exhibit anisotropic behavior, unlike amorphous materials which are isotropic.
