Anisotropy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000620
The property of a material exhibiting different physical or chemical characteristics when measured along different directions. This directional dependence arises from the ordered arrangement of atoms or molecules within the material's structure. For instance, a crystal may show varying electrical conductivity or refractive index depending on the orientation of the measurement.
