Directional chain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003269

A polymer chain in which the two ends are chemically distinct, meaning they cannot be interchanged by any symmetry operation of the chain. This distinction arises from the specific chemical nature of the terminal groups or the monomer sequence. For example, a polypeptide chain with N-terminal and C-terminal ends is a directional chain.
