Cyclic macromolecule

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002815

A macromolecule in which the main chain forms a closed loop, without any terminal end groups. These structures are formed by the covalent bonding of the two ends of a linear polymer chain. The absence of chain ends gives cyclic macromolecules distinct physical properties, such as smaller hydrodynamic volume and higher glass transition temperatures, compared to their linear counterparts of similar molecular weight.
