Polyrotaxane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009234
A polymeric architecture where multiple cyclic molecules are threaded onto a linear polymer chain, without covalent bonds between the cyclic and linear components. The cyclic molecules are prevented from dethreading by bulky end-groups on the linear chain. This mechanically interlocked structure imparts unique properties, such as enhanced elasticity and damping.
