Catenane polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001737
A polymer whose macromolecules are composed of two or more interlocked cyclic polymer chains, without any covalent bonds connecting them. The individual rings are mechanically linked, meaning they cannot be separated without breaking covalent bonds within one of the rings. These unique architectures are synthesized through template-directed reactions or statistical threading methods, offering distinct topological properties compared to linear or branched polymers.
