Pendent chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008593
A polymer chain or segment that is attached to a larger macromolecule or network at only one point, resembling a side chain or a dangling arm. These chains do not form part of the main backbone of a cross-linked network or the primary structure of a branched polymer. Their presence can influence the physical properties of the material, such as its elasticity or viscosity, by contributing to steric hindrance or entanglement.
