Spacer arm
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011074
A chemical chain of atoms that connects a ligand or other moiety to a polymer backbone or substrate, providing spatial separation between the two. This structural element is designed to position the attached group away from the main chain, which can reduce steric hindrance and allow it to interact more freely with its environment or target. The length and chemical nature of the spacer arm are tailored to the specific application.
