Side group or side-chain polymer liquid crystal
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010842
A type of polymer liquid crystal where the mesogenic units, which are responsible for liquid crystalline behavior, are attached as side groups to the main polymer backbone. The polymer chain acts as a flexible spacer, allowing the mesogens to orient and form liquid crystalline phases. This architecture combines the properties of polymers with the anisotropic characteristics of liquid crystals.
