Sick building syndrome
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010841
A condition in which occupants of a specific building experience acute health and comfort effects that appear to be linked to time spent in the building, but no specific illness or cause can be identified. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, and irritation of the eyes, nose, or throat, which subside after leaving the building. Poor indoor air quality, resulting from chemical contaminants, biological agents, or inadequate ventilation, is a suspected cause.
