Acute respiratory distress syndrome

A severe lung condition characterized by widespread inflammation in the lungs, leading to fluid accumulation in the alveoli and impaired gas exchange. This syndrome results in severe hypoxemia and reduced lung compliance. It can be triggered by direct lung injury, such as pneumonia, or indirect injury, such as sepsis.
