Fish acute toxicity syndromes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004444
Specific sets of observable toxic responses in fish resulting from short-term exposure to a chemical, which are characteristic of a particular mode of toxic action. These syndromes group chemicals based on the pattern of behavioral, physiological, and morphological changes they induce, such as respiratory distress or neurotoxicity. The classification of a substance into a syndrome, like a narcotic or an uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation, predicts its toxicological behavior.
