Myelodysplastic syndrome

A group of clonal hematopoietic stem cell disorders characterized by ineffective hematopoiesis and a risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia. These syndromes result in cytopenias, meaning a reduction in one or more types of blood cells. Diagnosis involves bone marrow biopsy and cytogenetic analysis.
