Blood transfusion

The process of transferring whole blood or blood components from one person (the donor) into the bloodstream of another person (the recipient). This procedure is performed to restore blood volume, improve oxygen-carrying capacity, or correct deficiencies in clotting factors or immune cells. Blood transfusions are typically administered intravenously.
