Alloantigen

An antigen present in some individuals of a species but not in others, capable of eliciting an immune response in genetically different individuals of the same species. These antigens are responsible for immune reactions against transplanted tissues and blood transfusions. Examples include ABO blood group antigens and major histocompatibility complex molecules.
