Alloreactivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000432
An immune response directed against alloantigens, which are antigens from a genetically dissimilar individual of the same species. This reaction is a major challenge in organ transplantation, as the recipient's immune system recognizes the donor's tissues as foreign. The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules are primary targets of alloreactivity.
