Allosteric antagonist
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000433
A substance that binds to an allosteric site on a receptor, distinct from the orthosteric binding site, and reduces the efficacy or affinity of an agonist. This binding induces a conformational change in the receptor, thereby modulating its activity without directly competing with the agonist for its binding site. It can decrease the maximum response of the receptor.
