Dual binding site
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003465
A characteristic of a biological macromolecule, such as an enzyme or receptor, that possesses two distinct regions capable of interacting with a ligand. These sites may bind the same or different molecules, leading to complex regulatory mechanisms or allosteric effects. Acetylcholinesterase, for example, has both an active site and a peripheral anionic site.
