Dual fluorescence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003466

The emission of light from two distinct excited states of a single fluorophore, resulting in two separate fluorescence bands in the emission spectrum. This phenomenon arises when a molecule can exist in two different excited-state conformations or electronic configurations that have distinct emission properties. An example is the emission from both locally excited and twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) states.
