Noncompetitive antagonist
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008010
A type of receptor antagonist that binds to a site on the receptor distinct from the agonist binding site, or binds irreversibly to the agonist binding site. This binding prevents the agonist from producing a maximal effect, even at high concentrations, by altering the receptor's conformation or reducing the number of available receptors. The effect cannot be overcome by increasing agonist concentration.
