Agonist
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000342
A chemical substance that binds to a specific receptor and initiates a physiological response. This binding event mimics the action of an endogenous ligand, leading to the activation of cellular signaling pathways. Agonists are frequently used in pharmacology to stimulate biological processes or to treat conditions caused by insufficient natural ligand activity.
