Intrinsic activity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006024

The maximal effect a drug can produce once it has bound to its receptor, relative to the maximal effect of a full agonist. A full agonist has an intrinsic activity of 1, while a partial agonist has an intrinsic activity between 0 and 1. Antagonists have an intrinsic activity of 0, as they bind but produce no effect.
