Potency
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009313
A measure of drug activity expressed in terms of the amount required to produce an effect of given intensity. A highly potent drug evokes a larger response at lower concentrations compared to a less potent one. This characteristic is often quantified by the EC50 or IC50 value, representing the concentration needed for 50% of the maximal effect or inhibition, respectively.
