Allogeneic

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000424

Describing cells, tissues, or organs that are derived from genetically dissimilar individuals of the same species. These materials are often used in transplantation, where they can elicit an immune response in the recipient due to differences in major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. Allogeneic transplants require careful matching and immunosuppressive therapy to prevent rejection.
