Acute rejection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000205
An immune response that occurs within days to months after an organ transplantation, where the recipient's immune system recognizes the transplanted organ as foreign and mounts an attack against it. This rejection is primarily mediated by T-lymphocytes and can lead to organ damage or failure. Immunosuppressive drugs are used to manage and prevent acute rejection episodes.
