Cell-mediated immune response

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001785

An immune response that does not involve antibodies but is instead mediated by the activation of specific immune cells. This response is primarily driven by T lymphocytes, which can directly kill infected cells or activate other cells, such as macrophages, through the release of signaling molecules called cytokines. Cell-mediated immunity is directed against intracellular pathogens like viruses and bacteria, as well as against tumor cells.
