Proinflammatory cytokine
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009528
A signaling protein secreted by immune cells that promotes inflammation and immune cell activation. These cytokines mediate communication between cells during an immune response, contributing to host defense against pathogens and tissue repair. Examples include interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6).
