Tumor necrosis factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012349
A type of cytokine, a signaling protein, primarily produced by macrophages and other immune cells in response to infection and inflammation. It plays a central part in the inflammatory response, can induce fever, and has the ability to cause apoptosis (cell death) in certain types of tumor cells.
