Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012350

A family of intracellular adaptor proteins that link members of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily to downstream signaling pathways. Upon ligand binding to the receptor, these factors are recruited to the receptor's cytoplasmic domain, where they serve as a scaffold for other signaling molecules. This process initiates cascades involving kinases like JNK and IKK, ultimately leading to the activation of transcription factors such as NF-κB and AP-1, which control cellular responses including inflammation, survival, and apoptosis.
