Nuclear receptor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008117

A type of intracellular receptor protein that, upon binding to a ligand, directly regulates gene expression by acting as a transcription factor. These receptors are typically found in the cytoplasm or nucleus and bind to lipid-soluble signaling molecules like steroid hormones, thyroid hormones, and retinoids. They play fundamental roles in development, metabolism, and homeostasis.
